There are some mornings that make the early alarm completely worth it, and Amber and Andrew’s engagement session at Cocoa Beach was definitely one of them.

We met on the beach just as the sun was beginning to come up, and the sky absolutely showed off for us. With storms in the area, we weren’t completely sure what the morning would bring, but the rain held off and instead gave us one of the most incredible sunrises I’ve ever photographed. The sky was filled with beautiful colors that created the dreamiest backdrop for their Cocoa Beach engagement photos.

A Sunrise Worth Waking Up For

Sunrise sessions at Cocoa Beach are always beautiful, but this morning was something special.

The clouds from the nearby storms caught all of the color from the rising sun, giving us everything from soft pastel tones to dramatic, vibrant skies. We took full advantage of it, especially when it came time for silhouettes.

Some of my absolute favorite photographs from Amber and Andrew’s session are their silhouette portraits against the sunrise. The colors, their connection, and the reflections along the shoreline came together perfectly. They may honestly be some of my favorite silhouette photos I’ve ever taken!

And while we were photographing their session, Cocoa Beach had even more going on than usual. A surfing competition was setting up nearby for the day. We didn’t manage to catch any surfers in the background of their photos, but it definitely added to the energy of an already beautiful morning on the coast.

From the Shoreline to the Ocean

One of my favorite things about beach engagement sessions is when couples are willing to embrace the location completely — and Amber and Andrew absolutely did.

We started along the sand and shoreline, taking advantage of the sunrise and all of those incredible colors before eventually making our way into the Atlantic.

By the end of the session, they were waist-deep in the water!

Those final images were the perfect way to finish the morning. There’s something about getting into the ocean that makes a beach session feel a little more adventurous and gives the photos a completely different energy. Amber and Andrew were up for it, and it was absolutely worth getting a little wet!

From Cocoa Beach to a Fort Lauderdale Yacht Wedding

The best part is that this engagement session is only the beginning of my time photographing Amber and Andrew.

I’ll be photographing their wedding on October 23, 2028, aboard a yacht in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and I already cannot wait to capture the next chapter of their story.

There’s also a really fun family connection to their venue choice: Andrew’s mom was married aboard a yacht in Fort Lauderdale, too! I love when wedding plans have a personal connection like that, and it makes their upcoming celebration feel even more special.

The Unexpected Way We Met

One of my favorite parts of being a photographer is seeing how people find their way into my life, and my connection to Amber and Andrew is definitely a fun one.

I originally met Amber’s aunt, Maureen, completely outside of the photography world. In 2025, while working as a VIP Tour Guide at SeaWorld Orlando for Howl-O-Scream, Maureen was one of the guests on my tour.

That connection eventually led Amber and Andrew to me, and now I have the privilege of photographing not only their engagement session but their wedding day as well.

It’s funny how life brings people back around in completely unexpected ways!

Cocoa Beach Engagement Photography

Amber and Andrew’s session was everything I love about photographing couples at Cocoa Beach — beautiful natural light, an incredible sunrise, ocean views, and plenty of room to create photographs that feel both romantic and adventurous.

Florida weather can always be unpredictable, but sometimes those storm clouds are exactly what create the most incredible skies. This morning was the perfect example. The storm held off, the sunrise delivered, and we walked away with a gallery filled with beautiful color and some of my favorite silhouette images to date.

Amber and Andrew, thank you for trusting me to capture this chapter of your story. I had such a wonderful morning with you both, and I cannot wait to trade the sunrise at Cocoa Beach for a yacht in Fort Lauderdale when you officially become husband and wife in October 2028!
