Some wedding days feel less like an event and more like one big gathering of the people who matter most — and Maddisen and Cody Lambert’s Tybee Island wedding was exactly that. 🤍
Their story began back home in West Virginia when Maddisen decided to make the first move and slide into Cody’s DMs because she thought he was funny. And clearly, that message worked out pretty well. 🥹
Fast forward to their wedding day, and the two traveled from West Virginia to beautiful Tybee Island, Georgia, where they celebrated their marriage at a family friend’s property surrounded by the people they love most.
Getting Ready for the Day
The day began with Maddisen getting ready inside the home, with her mom there to help her into her wedding dress and place her veil. Those quiet moments before a ceremony are always some of my favorites to photograph — the excitement is building, everything is finally becoming real, and there are so many little interactions happening that deserve to be remembered.
Before heading to the ceremony, Maddisen also shared a first look with her dad and her brother. Getting to capture their reactions to seeing her as a bride was such a sweet part of the day.
A Personal Tybee Island Wedding Ceremony
Maddisen and Cody exchanged vows right at the property on Tybee Island, creating an intimate and personal setting for their ceremony.
One of the most meaningful moments came from Maddisen’s brother, Jaden, who wrote a poem especially for the couple and read it during the ceremony. It was one of those personal touches that made their wedding completely their own.
After Maddisen and Cody officially became husband and wife, everyone moved into the courtyard for an outdoor reception filled with celebrating, dancing, and time together.
Golden Hour & Dock Wedding Portraits
And then came one of my favorite parts of the entire day — golden hour. ✨
Tybee Island gave us the most beautiful light for Maddisen and Cody’s newlywed portraits. We took advantage of the property and the surrounding coastal scenery before making our way down to the dock for even more portraits.
The dock ended up being such a beautiful location for the two of them. Between the water, the warm evening light, and those first few hours of officially being husband and wife, it was the perfect setting to slow things down and give them a few moments together away from the celebration.
A Reception With a Little Bit of West Virginia
Once portraits were finished, it was time to celebrate.
The reception brought plenty of fun — including Cody breaking out the Soulja Boy dance — before the night eventually came full circle back to where their story began.
For a couple who traveled from West Virginia to Tybee Island to get married, there couldn't have been a more fitting final song than *Take Me Home, Country Roads* by John Denver.
Surrounded by their family and friends, Maddisen and Cody ended their wedding celebration singing along to a little piece of home. 🤍
From the quiet moments with Maddisen and her family, to Jaden’s poem, their beautiful ceremony, golden-hour portraits on the dock, and a reception full of personality, this was such a special wedding day to photograph.
Congratulations, Maddisen and Cody! 🤍
I had the opportunity to photograph their Tybee Island wedding while lead shooting for Flower & Oak Films, and I’m so grateful I was able to document this beautiful day.
